Choosing a buying agent
The best buying agents in Hampshire should be able to explain where they would search, where they would not, and why. Knowledge of Winchester, Stockbridge, Alresford and the villages of the Test Valley is useful only when accompanied by the willingness to give candid advice and narrow the field.
What a proper brief looks like
We begin by distinguishing essentials from preferences: the setting, accommodation, privacy, budget and intended use. We also test practical constraints, including Waterloo rail services, the M3 and independent schools including Winchester College and St Swithun’s, rather than assuming every attractive address will suit the client’s routine.
Selective access, not volume
An effective agent does not simply forward every listing. We speak to relevant selling agents and other contacts, review publicly marketed opportunities and investigate suitable properties that may not yet be widely advertised. Access can never be guaranteed; selection and judgement remain central.
Independent advice
Our recommendations take account of chalk-stream frontage, flood exposure, protected landscapes and the relationship between villages and working estates. We will explain the compromises openly and advise against a property where we believe the disadvantages outweigh the attraction.
